Project Life - Week 1

This year I decided to do a Project Life album.  Several year's ago I did the Project 365, which was Becky Higgins' kit before Project LIfe.  I enjoyed working on that album and thought the Project Life kit looked like fun.  

Since the Seafoam kit designed by Elise Blaha that I want to use isn't available just yet, I bought the digital version and printed it out so I could get started on time. Here are my Week 1 pages.  

I pretty much just used the cards from the digital kit, then added a quote card downloaded from Elise, a bit of washi tape, and a brad.

I need to get better at remembering to take pictures during the week so I have more to choose from when I sit down on Sunday to complete my pages.  I also need to learn how to use my new camera so my pictures look better on my blog.

Christmas Projects and Other Stuff

Every Christmas I make some little gifty items for my mom and sisters.  This year I'm making tote bags that can be rolled up and carried in your purse.  I traced a plastic grocery bag and made a pattern.  Here are two of the bags I've made so far.  The dark blue bag in the corner is rolled up and fastened with velcro.  They actually hold quite a bit of stuff and I think my mom and sisters will find them handy.

I'm also knitting dishcloths using varigated cotton yarn.  The patterns are from Simple Knitting by Erika Knight.  

I recently made this Kindle cover as a going away gift for my co-worker, Janet, who just got a new job.  The pattern is in the Winter 2012 issue of Quilts and More.  I followed Elizabeth Hartman's tutorial for quilted panels and used a bunch of scraps.  I love the way it turned out and Janet really liked it too.

I also finished my circle quilt.  I wanted to challenge myself to do a more complicated quilting design, so I chose pebbles for the background from Angela Walter's book, Free Motion Quilting.  I also quilted a big spiral in each of the circles.  There was a bit of a learning curve, so the pebbles look better at the bottom of the quilt then they do at the top, but it was so fun and I love the way it turned out.  Now I just need to get it hung up in my family room.

10 Things on the 10th

Today I'm joining Shimelle for "10 Things on the 10th" and sharing ten of my unfinished projects.

First up are three knitting projects.  A sweater, a pair of socks, and a scarf.

Then there are a few small quilting projects and the Polka Dot quilt I wrote about in my previous post.
